Cod Cabin – The Angler’s Basecamp

Perched on the banks of the Severn River, Cod Cabin is your go-to for an authentic bush experience.

• Rates: $290/night (Mon–Thu), $305/night (Fri–Sun) for up to 4 guests. Additional guests: $50 per person/night.

• Sleeps: Up to 8 (1 double bed, 6 single beds).

• Features:

  • Open-plan layout with slabbed timber construction.

  • Self-contained kitchen with 240L fridge, cooking facilities, and utensils.

  • Solar-powered with a cozy wood-fired heater.

  • Hot showers and basic bathroom amenities.

  • Exclusive access to 8km of riverfront and 1,500 acres of bushland.

Note: 4WD access only. Bedding and linen not provided, This can be added for $20 pp.

Kingfisher Cabin – The Romantic Hideaway

Overlooking a serene trout dam, Kingfisher Cabin is perfect for couples seeking tranquility with a touch of luxury.

• Rate: $299/night.

• Sleeps: Up to 4 (1 queen bed, 1 double bed in loft).

• Features:

  • Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.

  • Large windows with stunning views of the countryside.

  • Outdoor bath on the deck for ultimate relaxation.

  • Fire pit for stargazing.

  • 2WD accessible.

Fishing options include catch and release in the Severn River and the opportunity to keep one trout per person from the stocked dam

Fishing at Our Dams

At Bens Falls Retreat, we’re proud to offer two picturesque dams, each a haven for fishing enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just looking to relax by the water, our dams provide a tranquil and rewarding experience.

A Brief History

Our dams were originally stocked in 2007:

• Dam 1: Stocked with bass, silver perch, and golden perch.

• Dam 2: Stocked with rainbow trout, bass, silver perch, and golden perch.

In 2020, both dams were restocked with bass, silver perch, and golden perch, ensuring plenty of action for anglers.

Current Stock

• Dam 2: In August 2023, we introduced 180 plate-sized rainbow trout to the dam. These are available for catch and eat exclusively for Kingfisher Cabin guests.

Fishing Guidelines

• Catch and Release: Encouraged for all species except the rainbow trout in Dam 2, which Kingfisher Cabin guests can enjoy as a fresh meal (limit of one trout per person).
