Cod Cabin – The Angler’s Basecamp

Set on the banks of the Severn River, Cod Cabin is the perfect escape for fishing trips, family getaways and weekends with mates.

Enjoy 8 km of private river frontage and 1,500 acres of bushland, with plenty of room to fish, explore, kayak or simply relax around the fire.

• Rates: $329/night Mon–Thu | $359/night Fri–Sun for up to 4 guests

• Additional guests: $50 per person/night

• Sleeps: Up to 9 guests

• 1 queen bed, 1 double bed and 5 single beds

• Self-contained kitchen and 240L fridge

• Wood-fired heater and hot shower

• Completely off-grid and solar powered

• 4WD access only

A little note about fishing

Our river is sports fishing, lure fishing and 100% catch and release. Protecting our fishery is incredibly important to us, so if catch and release isn’t for you, Cod Cabin isn’t the right fit for your stay.

The river is closed to all fishing from 1 September to 30 November for the Murray Cod breeding season.

Kingfisher Cabin – The Romantic Hideaway

Overlooking a serene trout dam, Kingfisher Cabin is perfect for couples seeking tranquility with a touch of luxury.

• Rate: $329/night. or $349/night.

• Sleeps: Up to 4 (1 queen bed, 1 double bed in loft).

Fishing options include catch and release in the Severn River and the opportunity to keep one trout per person from the stocked dam

PLEASE NOTE: During the Murray Cod breeding season, from 1 September to 30 November, the river is completely off limits to fishing. No fishing is permitted in the river during this period. Guests are welcome to fish in their dam only.

Kingfisher Cabin Dam

At Bens Falls Retreat,has picturesque dam for fishing enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just looking to relax by the water, our dam provide a tranquil and rewarding experience.

A Brief History

Our dam were originally stocked in 2007:

• Dam 2: Stocked with rainbow trout, bass, silver perch, and golden perch.

In 2020, our dam were restocked with bass, silver perch, and golden perch, ensuring plenty of action for anglers.

In August 2023, we introduced 180 plate-sized rainbow trout to the dam. These are available for catch and eat exclusively for Kingfisher Cabin guests.

Fishing Guidelines

• Catch and Release: Encouraged for all species except the rainbow trout in Dam 2, which Kingfisher Cabin guests can enjoy as a fresh meal (limit of one trout per person).
